Volunteer

Volunteer tutors need to be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma.  After potential tutors contact the Project Read office, they can enroll for the next available tutor training session.  Once the 12 hour training has been completed, tutors are certified and may begin working with an adult learner.  The training and certification are based on the guidelines set by parent organization, ProLiteracy America.

Community members may also volunteer to help in other ways.  For instance, they may offer to serve on the Advisory or Governing Board.  They may also volunteer to help with special projects, such as the annual Read-a-thon or the Tutor Appreciation Event.
